Personal Biography

Hey Everyone! I'm Meg Andrews - a proud senior at Boston University studying Public Relations with an interest in sports communication, non-profit organizations, and higher-ed / administration.
I thrive on academic, social, and career opportunities at Boston University and I have been involved in many student organizations such as Student Government, the BU Catholic Center, BU Athletics, BU Orientation, BU Admissions, and the BU Community Service Center. I have learned effective career, leadership and life skills through various leadership positions I have held in these clubs.
I am currently an executive assistant for the Boston University School Spirit Research Project. I helped define and measure school spirit through university resources, student activities, school representation, giving back & satisfaction and I will help create a dashboard of statistics, measurements and methods that will be referenced for future use. I am currently the College of General Studies Dean’s Hosts Student Coordinator. I hold monthly training meetings with the CGS Dean’s Hosts to prepare them for prospective student lunches and open house events.
I have learned more about the sports communication field through internships with Major League Lacrosse and Boston University Athletics. At Major League Lacrosse I was responsible for writing press releases, game previews, and feature stories on a weekly basis. I assisted promotional activities at games, the Collegiate Draft, the All-Star game, and Championship weekend. I also completed a game day blog and created a video blog on MLL fans. Through this experience I was able to develop relationships with MLL players, coaches, and fans.
At Boston University Athletics I designed and managed the Junior Terriers Club, a club centered on motivating children ages 4-13 to attend athletic events. I also helped to create marketing and promotion plans for athletic events. This work experience not only pertained to my career interest, but also to my personal interest as a BU sports fan.
In the summer of 2009 I had the opportunity to share my Terrier pride with incoming students as a Student Advisor for Boston University Orientation. I acted as a representative for the university to both students and their families, academically assisted students and helped them register for class, and answered any questions students and families had about BU. The experience helped me improve leadership skills, form connections with resources on campus, and taught me the value of working with a team.
When I am not participating in various academic, club, and work responsibilities, I can be found taking part in service trips (such as past trips to Honduras, Ohio, and Florida) or at Agganis Arena cheering on the Boston University Terriers at hockey and basketball games.
